FAQ'S
On every trip listed on our website, you will find "Trip Style", "Tour Notes" and "Trip Dossiers" which offer more info on each of these topics.
How much does it Cost?
We recognize that everyone has different travel preferences and budgets, so we've chosen a selection of trips which offer styles of travel for anyone looking to add a different levels of adventure to their holiday. While each style offered by our operators is unique, they are all designed to provide an authentic experience you'll never forget offered at a range of prices. Please see tours listed on this website for pricing.
What's the Accommodation like?
As rough or as comfortable as you like. Ok, so you are trekking through the jungles of Papua in search of a remote tribe, you will not find the Ritz over the next hill. But if you are in Tuscany why not stay in a lovely farm house? A maharaja’s palace in India or in some of the worlds finest hotels? Or if you are like many of our travellers, all you want is something clean, comfortable and central such as locally run guest house. How about a tree house in Thailand or with a family in a hill tribe village? For us a hotel is more than a place to stay, it could be one the highlights of your trip.
What kind of Transport is used?
How you get about depends on the destination. Sometimes public transport is the best option, which is always a good way of getting to know the locals. in some places the terrain means the best way to get around is by dugout canoe, in others you could be in an air-conditioned coach or on a bamboo raft, in a tuk tuk or on a camel. Whatever the form of transport, it inevitable adds to the whole experience. Please see tour notes and trip dossiers for more info.
What Meals are included?
Sampling the local cuisine is a big part of the travelling experience. Our operators realize that everyone is different, and when it comes to food there are varying degrees of adventure! Our trips only include some meals, as we want you to explore the local cuisine and try something new. When in remote regions such as during an expedition cruise, abroad a yacht or trekking in remote regions, most meals are included. The food included is hearty and fresh and you'll be amazed at what can be whipped up in the middle of a jungle or at camp.
How Fit do I need to be?
On most of our trips the only physical activities you are required to do is walking at historical sights or wandering through a market so a reasonable level of fitness is all that is needed to participate. However, we have a wide range of trips and some of our trips such as trekking in Nepal does require a good level of fitness. Rest assured you will have all the information on how physical a trip is at you disposal before you book.
What is a Local Payment?
The local payment is part of the overall tour cost. This is payable to your tour leader on Day 1 of the tour. By structuring the payment for your holiday this way the operator is able to keep the actual price you pay to a minimum as it saves significant administration and operational costs.
Will I have Free Time?
Yes! Our operators believe everyone is an individual and have designed what they feel from years of experience to be the best itineraries to suit different budgets and different travellers. Lots of free time and chances to do as you please.
Travelling alone? - Few single supplements
40% of our travellers come alone. You can travel with like minded people from all over the world and on some of our trips you don't have to pay a single supplement! You will be roomed with a tour member of the same gender.
ABOUT SMALL GROUP ADVENTURE TRAVEL
Fully Escorted Small Groups
Group sizes average just 12 travellers from all parts of the world, so your fellow travellers could be from almost anywhere, from all walks of life and of all age groups.
This intimate group size ensures that your group won't crowd your experience. All trips are escorted by a tour leader and include expert guides when required. Many people travel alone, so if you are, you won't feel the odd one out. The group usually covers a broad range of ages. You'll make new friends and have an unforgettable travel experience!
Authentic Experiences
Travel means getting to the heart of a country, finding out what makes it tick. As a rule, if the locals are doing it, then you'll be doing it too! Whether it's staying in raft houses in Thailand or navigating through food stalls of a Beijing night market, you'll be using local transport, staying at locally owned guesthouses or hotels and eating where the locals eat. Cultural barriers are broken down and this helps you experience and understand the destination. The knowledge of the staff on the ground means that you will see places that aren't in the guidebook, and be introduced to locals as a guest, not a stranger.
We offer itineraries to suit all budgets and physical levels.Choose your Travel Style and Budget
Our Operators recognize that everyone has different travel preferences and budgets, so they offer styles of travel for anyone looking to add a little adventure to their holidays. While each style is unique, they are all designed to provide an authentic experience you'll never forget. Please find more info on tour styles on the listed tours on our website.
